Top 5-10 Best AI Music Generators

The rise in video content on the internet over the last few years has led to a rise in music generation and musical originality too. Many people want to have royalty free music to go over their YouTube or TikTok videos. In a world where you now must be original to stand out because videos have become so popular, AI music generation may well be the tool that helps you find that originality and takes your videos, social media or presentation to the next level. However, music generation is not just for the musician looking to create an original beat or the influencer looking to create original music so that their video is not demonetized. Music is a universal language and can have a multitude of uses. This article gives a list of 5 of the best music generation apps for a variety of purposes. However, before we jump into the list, we need to answer a few questions first.

What is an AI music generator and what can it do for you? For the most part, an AI music generator is a software kit that uses what are called ‘deep learning networks’ to analyse data like chords and tempo. Through this, it creates its own unique melodies for you based off what you feed it. It ensures that you can add original and unique music to your work. There are a variety of ways in which an AI music generator would be of use to you:

  • If you have a presentation due and want to overlay it with some unique music to add a more professional feel.
  • If you want to create an instrumental intro for a YouTube video without using any copyrighted music.
  • If you are a musician and have a basic idea of what sound you want to create but need some inspiration or guidance.

What to look for in an AI music generator:

Value: Most of the best AI music generators will cost money to use fully. That is okay if you are getting value for your money. If a service costs $15 per month and has many of the same features as a $30 per month service, it makes sense to utilise the cheaper option. Some of the best hidden gems in any area can be the most inexpensive, so don’t be dazzled by big price tags if you don’t need to be. Simplicity can be key sometimes.

Ease of Use: Speaking of simplicity, you can have the best tool inn the world, but of it is not easy to use, it will not be worth your time. The best AI music generators are comprehensive in their content, yet simple in their design and execution. Easy to navigate interfaces and menus along with a system that allows you to upload sounds easily is exactly what you need when looking for a generator service.

Amper: For complete control over your sound: There are so many features that make Amper music one of the leaders in the field of music generation. It gives you full editing control over the BPM, mood, and instrumentation of your sound, so if anything needs changing, it can be done efficiently. Its goal is to create a seamless workflow for the creator, through creating custom sounds, allowing for quick edits or through its easy-to-use interface. Personally, I have used Amper before to create original music for my podcast and it was extremely quick and easy to manage the sounds that I liked. You don’t need to be a music producer to use it either, it requires no prior coding or theory knowledge also. Amper also markets itself on being easy-to-use, allowing you to build tracks from pre-recorded samples, so it eliminates the process of creating from scratch if you don’t need to. What I will say is this, Amper can be expensive, like $80-100 per month kind of expensive, but it is quality in the service it offers. If you are not as serious about generating music on a constant basis or don’t have the money, I would encourage to look elsewhere, but if you are involved in music for a living and have the financial means to use Amper, I would strongly recommend.

AIVA: Serious music generation on a budget: if you are looking for something a little more laid back in terms of price, AIVA is a good alternative to Amper. It offers a structured price package which ranges from free (which is a good package) to standard at $15 per onth, to professional at $49 per month. You can create music quickly, choose your preferred style or genre or use it to edit existing songs. The editing features are not as comprehensive as Amper, however at its price point that could be expected. It offers tutorials and a list of FAQs which is great to help even the newest of users. You can not upload video, however the control you do get over your music is excellent and the easy to navigate and understand website along with the tutorials, makes AIVA an excellent choice for even the most serious of creators.

Humtap: Because the idea is awesome: Humtap is about as original an app as you will ever find, and I love it! It has so many qualities that make it one of my favourites on this list despite its limitations. Firstly, it’s free and super easy to use, just hum a melody into your phone and it will generate music based on that melody. Secondly, it is the only service on this list available as an app from the app store. Third, you can edit your melody created for you and even add vocals. Fourth, you can attach videos as well from your phone. Humtap literally allows you to create your own song just from humming into your phone! Now it is by no means a complete generating studio like some of the others, but it is fun, it is free, it is versatile and easy to use, try it out!

Ecrett Music: the best for video integration: Another great service that is extremely well priced is Ecrett Music. There are two main reasons it makes the list: its $5-8 per month entry point, and its video integration abilities. Ecrett pride themselves on their user-friendly interface, making style and genre selection both easy and quick. They also mention that their AI has created over 54 million unique pieces of music since its inception. Their simple interface gives the user peace of mind because they are reminded that they can create music for games, presentations, podcasts or videos. The service will then cater the music based on the mood the user wishes to portray. Furthermore, they add between 500,000-1,000,000 new patterns each month to allow for consistent unique customisation. What I appreciate is the excellent video quality and integration that comes with the service. In fact, it seems as if Ecrett was made especially for adding soundtracks to videos. Depending on the mood you are looking to convey in your video, presentation, podcast or game, Ecrett will create a track with ideal tempo and instrumentation so that you are happy. All this content for $5-8 per month is a steal.

Brain.fm: for something completely different: if you ae looking for something a little different, this service is for you. Brain.fm works as a mood music generator so that when you are working or in a state of flow with your work, the music will help your brain to maintain focus. Having quiet background music has been proven to yield more positive workflow and can help maintain better concentration levels. While you can not create your own music with this service, it is not made for music creation, it is made to generate its own relaxing music that will benefit the user. It is $7 per month and music can be downloaded for offline use, allowing you to go into airplane mode and work with your music in the background. An entirely different style of AI music generation, but a brilliant idea and a powerful tool to use, nonetheless.
